Music
At HOPE we want young people be inspired to achieve something – and we believe that music is a great tool to see some of that potential released.
We use music in various forms to:
- Encourage young people to try something out
- Inspire young people as to what can happen when they work hard and work together
- Be positive role models to young people
- Celebrate achievements through hard work and perseverance.
How we do this
Currently, the music project runs after school music mentoring. Young people come once a week for a couple of hours and we work on two or three songs which we will record. The young people will get to take away a CD of their recordings at the end of the sessions.
We also run the HOPE Summer Academy. Young people come for an entire week and choose to specialise in music, singing, dance, DJ’ing, graphic design, video, technical…. the list goes on. The young people then get to perform at the end of the week in a ‘Showcase Gig’.
We also work in local schools. If you would like to get involved in this work or get us to come into your school, get in touch.
